The Corporate Services division is headed by the General Manager Corporate Services who oversees:

  1. Manager Employee Relations
    • Create a conducive IR climate to enable the company to achieve its goals
    • Harmonize relations between the major stake holders that is the organized labour and management
    • Chairing negotiations between the organized labor and the company management
    • Ensuring that the best labor practices are adopted by all parties concern
    • Preparing for court cases against the company (labor matters)
    • To oversee the conduct of disciplinary hearings
  2. Manager Corporate Communications
    • Develops, manages and implements overall public relations strategies
    • Directs SEC events, press meetings and media interviews
    • Act as the company's spokesperson, responding to press inquiries, comments and requests for information
    • Produces publications such newsletter, leaflets and annual reports
    • Develops and maintains the company's image which includes the innovative design of logos, signage, stationary e.t.c
    • Promotes employee awareness and understanding of SEC, its policies, goals, strategies, projects, programmes and a variety of employee communication tools and tactics
    • Organizes and provides content for documented programmes, speeches, awards, presentations and employee recognition forums
    • Event management for all SEC's initiatives and programmes
  3. Manager Human Resource Services
    • Performance Management System: Co-ordinate the performance management system of SEC, provide expert advise to all stakeholders and ensure that all staff are measured as per policy.
    • Training & Development: manage, coordinate and monitor the internal and external training and development programme of SEC employees through the identification of training and development needs.
    • Organizational Development: Ensure the smooth implementation of all OD interventions related to organizational transformation or re-structuring.
    • Recruitment: Co-ordinate and administer the recruitment, selection, placement and retention processes to ensure that SEC is manned by appropriately skilled personnel in terms of the approved Divisional needs and requirements within the constraints of the SEC/PEU performance contract.
    • Manpower Planning: Provide management information and reports for human resource planning and co-ordinate and consolidate the ensuing Manpower plan.
    • Policy Development: Formulate and update HR policies and procedures for ratification and administration, according to business needs and requirements and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
    • Budget: Prepare, manage and control the HR Services annual budget ensuring cost effective utilization.
    • Provide HR Services: Ensure the efficient provision of general HR services to the entire company.
    • Benefits: Ensure the proper administration of SEC benefits and that all employees receive their due benefit on monthly basis.
  4. Legal Advisor & Company Secretary
    Limitation and management of legal risk for the company through;
    • Optimizing awareness of the impact of the law on day to day SEC operations through legal advice; oral and written, to all internal and external stakeholders as deemed appropriate.
    • Effective management of all kinds of litigation brought by and against the company through promoting settlement and appropriate levels of suits that the company best settles.
    • Carrying our legal research and facilitating legislative amendments
    • Offering a support function for the company's mangers in negotiating contracts, contracts preparation and verification of draft contracts as well as ensuring enforcement of SEC contracts in the best interest of the company
  5. Archiving & Filling Supervisor
    • Access Control Management: Ensure that the Access Control system is functioning properly on daily basis.
    • Ensure that there is constant adequate stock of access control cards for customers and new employees
    • Coordinate the activation of all access control points as determined by the SHRQ department
    • Ensure that the access control system works according to the manual or set parameters
    • Coordinate the maintenance and fixing of the access control system when faulty
    • Ensure that there is a register for all incoming and out going customers
    • Central Filing: Ensure that the central filing of all SEC documents is properly manned and according to the set filing system.
    • Ensure that all documents are filed at their rightful places at all times
    • Compile a report on the documents kept at the central filing office for easy access when needed
    • Compile & maintain SEC document register - ensure that all of SEC documents are registered and archived in their rightful places
    • Supervision of SEC headquarters reception function
    • Supervision of internal mail, messenger system and service
    • Coordination of national (internal) mail system
  6. Property Officer
    • Compile & maintain SEC property register - ensure that all of SEC property is registered
    • Management of the outsourced cleaning services (offices and HO yard)
    • Management of furniture assets and replacement, ensure that all offices have the necessary and adequate furniture
    • Ensure that all of SEC Housing maintenance & refurbishment processes are carried out according to a fixed schedule ( property maintenance)
    • Ensure that the department has an adequate Capex and operational budget
    • Responsible for managing the leasing functions of the organisation.
    • Provide input into development of property strategy and portfolio plans.
    • Follow up on reports from internal and external audit, and other external consultants which require corrective action specifically concerning the refurbishment and maintenance of SEC property and houses.
    • Oversee facilities management process with regards to planned maintenance and ensure that its according to plan.
    • Ensure that maintenance work is in line with plans, budgets, policies and procedures, taking corrective action where necessary.
