SEC Tariff Structure Schedule 2016/17

Following the directive from the Swaziland Energy Regulatory Authority (SERA) and the subsequent announcement of the approved electricity price increase, SEC would like to inform its customers that the applicable tariff rates with effect from 1st April 2016 shall be as follows;

Facility Charge

The facility charges, payable whether any electricity is used or not, are being increased to more accurately reflect the fixed customer specific costs associated with the various supplies.

Energy Charges

The energy charge is for all electricity consumption during billing month which shall be as near to the calendar month as convenient to SEC.

Maximum Demand Charges

Maximum Demand shall be the power recorded over any thirty minutes period by a kVA demand indicator.

Access Charge

Access charge is based on the highest of the previous 12 months maximum demand.

Tariff Conversions

Whenever a customer wishes to convert to a more appropriate tariff, an application would need to be completed and it needs to meet with SEC’s approval.

Connection Fee

Connection fees apply to residential utility accounts that are new or transferring or if reconnecting after disconnection for non-payment. These fees reflect the cost of performing these services for the customer.

Security Deposits

A monetary deposit levied by SEC as security to her to pay towards outstanding debt in the event the customer fails to pay their debt. Once an account is terminated and the security deposit is applied on the outstanding debt, any credit balance on the accounts refunded to the customer. Likewise, any debt should be paid by the customer.

Applications

Most tariffs will carry a suffix which describes the type of application for which the customer uses the electricity. This does not change the tariff rates but is for statistical purposes.
